Behaviour of dashboard based on types of roles:¶
NOTICE
Devices with a runtime version lower than 1.23.0 do not support the Viewer, Operator, and AppAdmin roles.
The appearance and functionality of the dashboard vary depending on the user's role. Here's a breakdown of how it works:
-
User Role Only
If a user only has the
User
role and no other roles, they will not see any applications on the dashboard. The left menu will also be hidden. -
User Role and User Group
Users with the
User
role who are also part of a user group will see all the applications shared with that group. The left menu will be visible based on the roles assigned to the group. If multiple applications are shared via the groups, the user will be able to see all of them. -
AppAdmin, Operator, or Viewer Roles
Users with any of these roles will see all applications on the dashboard. The left menu will not be visible. However, if they do not have additional edge runtime permissions, they will not see the edge runtime menu. Similarly, if they don't have additional edge runtime permissions, they won't be able to manage the applications fully. They will only see the "More Info" option in the app tile's 3 dots menu.
-
AppAdmin, Operator, or Viewer Roles and User Group
Users with any of these roles who are also part of a group will see a mix of applications. This mix includes applications that the user is allowed to view based on permissions, applications shared via the group, and applications without the necessary permissions. If the user has group permissions, they will be able to see these additional permissions like
Uninstall
andDownload Logs
options in the 3 dots menu. In the "More Info" section, they can also see theRestart
,Stop
andUninstall
buttons. -
User is an Admin
Users with the
Admin
role have all permissions. They will see all applications on the dashboard, and the left menu will be visible.
