Onboarding

This guide will walk you through the onboarding of your IED (Industrial Edge Device) to the IEM (Industrial Edge Management). Further information to the onboarding process can be find in the Concepts sections.

Preparation

  • IED can establish connection IEM
  • IED has running Industrial Edge Runtime (chapter Basic or Advanced)
  • Device Type is created for your IED (chapter Device Type Creation)

Step A (IEM)

First you need to create an instance in the IEM. The result will be a configuration file that is mandatory to onboard your device.

  1. Go to the Edge Devices menu in your IEM.
  2. Click "+ New Edge Device" button in the top right corner.
  3. Now select your Device Type and provide a name for the instance as well as credentials.
  4. Next the network settings can be configured. For the basic integration you don't need to fill in information here.
  5. Continue with adding a proxy if one is placed between your IED and IEM. Else finish the configuration by confirming the "Create" button.
  6. An onboarding file will be downloaded through your browser.

Step B (IED)

The final step before using your Industrial Edge Device has to be executed on the Device UI. It can be reached by enterin the IP of you device in a browser (https://). You will get asked to upload the onboarding file that was created in the previous step. The device will now be activated. If succesfull you can log in and use Industrial Edge.
